It is amazing how many traditional advertising agencies have become online marketing and digital marketing specialists in a short few years. Those who spent most of their time selling themselves and their impressive theories, and ultimately spend the majority of any corporation’s budget on TV advertising, are now all suddenly online marketing professionals.

The world of internet marketing is awash with agencies and consultants who are now all specialists in the world of SEO, PPC, social media marketing, Facebook marketing, and Twitter marketing. For someone who has been involved in the world of traditional advertising agencies, and the world of SEO and online marketing for the past 20 years, it is amazing how many traditional advertising agencies have managed to re-invent themselves as online marketers in a very short time. Are you being taken for a ride by your advertising agency? Here is a look at the issues. The way they use the term CRM (consumer relationship marketing) is almost annoying.

Photo: xotoko

What About SEO?
Consumer relationship marketing has been the catch-cry of traditional marketing and advertising agencies for a long time, especially when they are talking about anything to do with the internet. They have had little experience in the world of SEO (search engine optimisation), they are not admitting it, and the simple fact remains, the biggest and best way to make the most out of online marketing and websites is with SEO.

SEO is king, and has little to do with consumer relationship marketing. These agencies are still refusing to admit they are way behind the game, especially when we have agencies, in cities like Sydney, Australia, who have been involved in the business of SEO for over a decade, and continue to take their client’s business to new levels.

SCO – Another Advertising Agency Sales Pitch
Advertising agencies have amazing skills to create theories and explanations, of how they are the best in the business. If you have ever worked in an advertising agency, you will know the most important part of your job is to baffle the client with your sophistication, and ultimately dazzle them with your complicated and yet convincing sales pitch. You are selling your agency, not discussing how you will improve the business of the client. SCO (social content optimisation) is the latest of these theories and hype-loaded strategies to come out of advertising agencies. Their pitch starts with something like, “is SCO the new SEO?”

How these two can possibly be compared is an absolute joke. Without getting too involved in the details of the strategy (sales pitch is a better way to describe it), a general summarisation goes as follows. The (big name global) agency states they “believe search and social are intertwined”. It is amazing that they can come to such a belief, considering Google search has had integrated social features and functions for a very long time. There is no ‘belief’ needed – it is a simple fact. The SCO theory goes on to talk about how the consumer’s mind is influenced and how that is a big part of the optimisation process of the content to be disseminated with social media market.

Photo: PhOtOnQuAnTiQuE

This is another example of advertising and agency bluff and pomp. The internet is not that complicated, and there are very real tools that we can use, and they are very clear cut. Advertising agencies are doing what they do best make out how sophisticated and stunningly impressive they are to sell themselves to their clients. Those professionals in the world of online marketing, don’t have sophisticated strategies, they have systematic methods that work. Those results can be seen in exact numbers.

There is no ‘feel’ to how popular your website has become. You will know exactly how many visitors you are getting for exactly the amount of money you are investing. If you want help with marketing your business online, go with those professionals who have been in the business for over a decade. Let the advertising agencies do what they do best, bluff and plunder large amounts of money out of global corporations and spend that on TV advertising. You can get the same reach at 1% of the cost. Go with those in the SEO know.

The web is abuzz with speculations after Google implemented a new algorithm for indexing websites and web pages.

The web is abuzz with speculations after Google implemented a new algorithm for indexing websites and web pages. More specifically, the new algorithm targets the so-called content farms or websites that churn out low quality and useless content to game the search engines. The recent changes obviously have a big impact on some search engine optimization strategies. More specifically, SEO experts are not sure anymore if it is worthwhile to build backlinks using known content farms such as article directories, content hubs, and large scale blog networks.

In the past, building backlinks through article directories is one of the most effective SEO strategies to boost the search engine exposure of your website. But with the recent algorithm change, some of the most popular article directories and content hubs have been hit by as much as 60 percent drop in search engine traffic. So if your search engine optimization strategy is relying heavily on article marketing, your website might also suffer from a sudden drop in search engine traffic. And if you are using rehashed articles, scraped content, and PLRs for your blog or website, then Google might slap you with a content farm penalty. Instead of higher search engine exposure, you might find your website on page 10 of Google’s search result.

Fortunately, there are ways how to overcome the so-called content farm algorithm. First, you need to understand why Google has implemented such big changes in indexing websites. The search giant wants to give online searchers more meaningful and useful results. Basically, this means that you have to stick with the basics so that your on-page SEO strategies will not be affected. The basics include delivering high quality unique content with useful insights and analysis. So if you are used to spinning content out of PLR and writing gibberish articles just to game the search results, then you have to mend your ways. Your on-page search engine optimization strategy will become more effective if you carefully produce well written and highly unique articles.

Another thing to consider is the value of article marketing to your SEO efforts. You have to take note that some article directories and content hubs are now struggling to regain their lost traffic. It does not mean however that you should abandon article marketing as a search engine optimization tactic. In fact, you should still persist in submitting articles to build more backlinks to your site. But you have to make sure that your own website contains unique and high quality content. Your site’s search engine exposure will improve if you deliver useful and informative articles. And the backlinks you created from the article directories can still be considered by Google spiders as votes of confidence.

Search engine optimization has become a lot trickier nowadays. With the introduction of the content farm algorithm, the old practice of duplicating and spinning content to boost search exposure may not be effective anymore. You have to return to the basic SEO strategies which include delivering high quality optimized content and ethical backlink building.

The old way of engaging in only offline, more traditional, and stodgy forms of advertising does not get the necessary results cost effectively any longer.

Photo: Ahmed Rabea

There was a day and time when Yellow Pages advertising held the key to success for most businesses, and similarly when television commercials, along with newspaper or billboard advertising, often determined whether a business achieved its sales and profit goals or missed them. These days, effective Internet marketing is required either in the place of these older forms of media entirely, or at least as a complimentary force to drive traffic and sales to the business.

Social Network Marketing through Twitter and Facebook
Twitter and Facebook have taken the online world by storm. So many people spend a part, and sometimes much, of their time on the Internet giving detailed updates about their lives, communicating with their friends and new acquaintances, and sharing pictures and videos of their daily activities via the relatively newer and overwhelmingly platforms of Twitter and Facebook. Strategies can be developed, and often at very limited expense, which will effectively engage the Twitter followers and Facebook fans to go check out the business or sole proprietor’s website. Effective social network marketing includes the set up and maintenance of both Twitter accounts and Facebook fan pages and Facebook connect for the social promotion of both brands and business.

Search Engine Optimization Marketing
Effective online marketing includes search engine optimisation through content and links. Taking a customer’s keywords or key phrases and getting them highly ranked for individual searches is involved with this. All three of the search engine majors of Google, Yahoo! and Bing can be targeted with this process. Once people searching for the business’ chosen keywords find the business’ website, then the business in question will gain greater numbers of visitors to their site. Greater numbers of visitors translate inevitably to greater dollars in actual sales, and finally in to higher profits.

Email Campaign Marketing
This idea of good online marketing includes the concept, creation, and development of effective e-marketing campaigns. Lists of interested potential clients can be compiled and then utilized. New product or service launches may then be announced, along with any sales or other special events, through the dispatching of emails specially tailored to attract the attention of the recipients.

Photo: technabob.com

Online Advertising
Productive online advertising for any business or sole proprietorship has become essential. There is inherently a greater cost involved with this form of online marketing, so it must be done with the utmost efficacy. Banner advertising should include all possible forms of technology, such as flash, video, and banner advertising which is both engaging and creative. Pay per click ads should similarly be designed with the goal of getting interested parties to work their way through to the website of the product or service in which they have demonstrated an interest. StandoutUK.com is an intergrated web design agency

Having great written content is the lifeblood upon which your site is built. It is the sheer power of words that turns your visitors into customers, so writing high impact articles is vital for your website and for your business.

Photo: Vaguely Artistic

Google tells us that in order to rank highly we have to provide relevant content that visitors are looking for. Many website owners complain that they have filled their site with content but still do not get higher numbers of visitors or high ranking in the search engines.

That’s because writing website content has to appeal not only to your visitors but to the search engines as well. Search engines like Google do not have the sophistication of human readers and there are limitations in its search algorithms. Some website owners get caught up trying to write for search engines in order to generate higher levels of traffic but end up ignoring their readers who, after all, are the real targets.

Your web copy has to be carefully crafted to not only contain the information your readers are looking for but also to the changing peculiarities and vagaries of search engine algorithms.

This might seem a daunting task but there are a few golden rules you can follow to make sure that you satisfy both of these criteria. Let’s take a look at some of them now.

Titles. The title of your article serves two purposes. Firstly, it has to be attractive to a reader and instantly create attention. Secondly, it should contain the keywords you want the search engines to find. Creating an engaging headline becomes easier with practice. It should grab attention by making a claim, asking a question and leaving the reader with no option but to read on.

Tone. The tone you adopt should reflect the content and nature of your site and should always be easy to read, but at the same time convincing. It should be a little like an expert talking to a friend with a light and friendly tone that carries an air of authority.

Keywords. You should always work your keywords into your headline and then at least once in the body of a 500 word article. Some SEO experts also recommend using the keyword in the last paragraph of the article. Google’s algorithm is becoming more sophisticated and is now able to recognize the relevance of content by identifying words that are similar in meaning to your keywords. This means you should never stuff keywords into your article but simply use the language that an expert would normally use.

The most successful articles follow a simple formula including the above tips.

To generate immediate interest try the following tips when constructing your article.

Make your headline interesting by giving your readers easy to read lists, for example “The Top 10 Ways to ….”

Write “How to” articles like “How to Make the Most of Your….”, or “How to……Without Fear”.

Write reviews of products or services like “What You Need to Know about xxxx”.

Tell a story about an experience that is relevant to your product or service, people love to read stories. Write something like “How A Three Minute Interview Change My Life”.

Follow these examples and your writing will come alive and, best of all, your visitors will want to keep coming back for more.

Most of the newly designed or re-designed websites have turned to blogging for generating greater profits online and establish better connectivity with the customers. You can easily convert your blog section into profit churning one. To reach this goal lots of hard work accompanied with latest technology usage are needed to increase the quality of your blog. These can be considered as basic requisites for any blog and so they have to be fulfilled if you desire to earn profits out of blogging.

Photo: >Håkon1981

Just having a blog does not guarantee its success, there are certain factors due to which people fail to make money from blogging. First reason being, keeping unrealistic expectations of having higher readership and profits as soon as they start blogging. On the contrary it is a slow and gradual process that yields results after some amount of time has passed. Lack of proper planning is another reason for making blogs a failure venture. So plan out carefully a good action plan for blogging and follow them for profit earning.

Try to generate higher percentage of readership as this would help in churning out of money online. In the time when competition is so high, establishing a good readership needs lots of hard work and patience. Websites that want to get higher number advertisers for their blog must get more net traffic. When there are so many blogs in the market, if you want to make an impression than make your blog attractive with good content and presentation. Blog marketing can also be done for extended results.

Even if your blog contains good quality of web content, but if it is not marketed well then it might not reach the masses. Therefore enough time and resources should be allotted to blog marketing. Also update your blog at regular time interval to maintain the interest level and keep your blog search engine optimized. After such steps if you don’t have readers to read the matter than all your efforts would be waste. So get the web traffic at your blog by marketing it well.

In blog marketing also, results cannot be expected overnight. It does take time and planned working to establish your blog in the market. Continuous and consist working is needed to reach the goal. Very high profits can be created if blogging is done in right manner and perspective. Also keep the content in your blog informative, original and relevant to your site business.
